Danielle Mashburn-Myrick is counsel in the Mobile, Ala., office of Phelps Dunbar LLP, where she focuses her practice on bankruptcy, creditors’ rights and commercial litigation. She represents client in numerous industries, including marine and energy, health care, retail, hospitality, commercial real estate, transportation, and banking and financial services. In her bankruptcy practice, Ms. Mashburn-Myrick frequently represents community banks and global financial institutions, as well as manufacturers, landlords and asset-purchasers in reorganizations and liquidations. She advises distressed companies, corporate officers and directors, and guarantors in pre-bankruptcy planning, out-of-court workouts, wind-downs and debt restructurings. In her complementary creditors’ rights practice, Ms. Mashburn-Myrick represents creditors in commercial foreclosures, in- and out-of-court collection activities and Uniform Commercial Code sales in exercise of other Article 9 remedies, and obtains payments on sizable debts and obligations. In her commercial litigation practice, she defends lender-liability claims, such as automatic stay and discharge injunction violations, and breach of loan participation agreements. She also litigates contract disputes in state, bankruptcy and other federal courts. Between college and law school, Ms. Mashburn-Myrick spent two years teaching English in Central Asia, followed by a year gaining hands-on retail management experience running her family’s business in Fairhope, Ala. Outside of her busy practice, she is involved in a number of organizations and is a tireless advocate for children’s health care protections. Ms. Mashburn-Myrick is a 2022 honoree of ABI’s “40 Under 40” program and is listed in Mid-South Super Lawyers as a Rising Star (2020-22). She also received “40 Under 40” honors in 2022 from Mobile Bay Magazine and has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America as one of the Ones to Watch. Ms. Mashburn-Myrick is a member of ABI and the Alabama State, Florida, Mississippi and Mobile Bar Associations. She is Board Certified in Business Bankruptcy Law by the American Board of Certification, and she is serving as Secretary of IWIRC’s Gulf Coast Chapter. Ms. Mashburn-Myrick received her B.A. in philosophy magna cum laude in 2006 from Rhodes College and her J.D. magna cum laude in 2013 from the University of Alabama School of Law.
