Ishaq Kundawala

Professor Ishaq Kundawala is a professor at Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law, where he has served since 2021. He teaches Bankruptcy, Contracts, Secured Transactions, and Legal Ethics, and leads an innovative consumer bankruptcy externship program that provides students with hands-on, pro bono experience. During the 2023–24 academic year, he also served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Professor Kundawala began his teaching career in 2008 at Nova Southeastern University and previously practiced law for over five years in Dallas, Texas, representing clients in complex Chapter 11 cases. He also clerked for the Chief Bankruptcy Judge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas. His research focuses on bankruptcy reform and legal ethics, and he frequently offers expert commentary on related topics in national and local media.
